
Cornbread! What could be better at Thanksgiving! Well, in the south, there is never a bad excuse, or an excuse needed, to eat cornbread! This recipe is simple, fast, and delicious!
Cornbread Ingredients:
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1 cup cornmeal
- ¾ cups of flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups of buttermilk
Cornbread Directions:

Cornbread raw Preheat oven to 435 degrees F.
- Lightly grease 8-inch baking dish with butter or Crisco
- In large bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt
- In a separate bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, and melted butter
- Pour the wet mixture into the cornmeal mixture, and mix until there is no dry spots (leave it lumpy)
- Pour the batter into the baking dish
- Bake 20 to 25 minutes, and until top is golden (test with a toothpick to make sure middle of cornbread is cooked)
- Remove and cool for 10 minutes before cutting for serving
